Inclusive innovation: digital creativity and opportunities
Virtual Conference :: 11-15 July 2022
DCDC22 will showcase how digital innovation is transforming the cultural heritage and academic sectors and their relationship with their audiences. From individual projects to national programmes, for organisations and groups large and small, we look forward to examining the opportunities and challenges that digital technologies and collaboration can offer.
Emerging technologies have brought considerable benefits to cultural heritage organisations, transforming approaches to institutional collections, our ways of working, and the way people discover and engage with collections. As research continues to drive innovation, how can we ensure that our practices remain relevant, open, inclusive, representative and transformative? How can our practices in turn enable new innovations?
Championing creativity and talent within the GLAMA (galleries, libraries, archives, museums and academia) sector and exploring digital solutions at scale, DCDC22 is a forum for knowledge-exchange between organisations and individuals at all levels. We will explore how research is reimagining how our collections are formed and preserved, how audiences engage with and contribute to our work, and how we plan for the future.
DCDC stands for Discovering Collections, Discovering Communities. We are a cross-sectoral conference, hosted by The National Archives, RLUK and Jisc, that brings together the GLAMA sector to shine a light on our shared experiences, innovations, interests and concerns.
DCDC22 updates
We have lots of exciting content planned for this year. We’re teaming up again with History Day to provide a virtual exhibition area, where you can discover history collections and connect with collections staff from across the UK. We’re also working with early career networks across the GLAM and Academic sectors to provide a strand of interactive sessions for early career delegates. The conference platform will host a range of content, from pre-recorded videos on this year’s theme, to our sponsor hall and networking spaces. Our social and knowledge exchange hub will enable colleagues from across the sector to connect and share best practice, new ideas and work collaboratively.

History Day at DCDC22
We are pleased to be hosting a special History Day event during DCDC22. On the afternoon of 13 July there will be a free event, organised by the Institute of Historical Research and Senate House Library, to showcase the value of collaborations between collections staff and researchers.
